Components specialist customises displays

Monitors and displays from RELEC can be tailored for use in harsh environments and supplied with a choice of technologies

The company can also supply EMC filters, from 1A to 1,100A for single- and three‑phase applications, chokes and inductors for noise suppression and transient immunity protection, as well as power entry modules to combine IEC power entry with EMC noise suppression filters and immunity.

A recent challenge was a request to simulate the 110V DC train-borne supply voltage from an AC supply. The power supply used had to be readily available and relatively easy to implement, yet robust enough to be installed in a mobile transit case without posing a reliability risk. An Excelsys Ultimod configurable power supply was selected for its proven reliability in the field and five year warranty. Its configurability meant that a custom solution was delivered within 24 hours.

Relec supplies specialist products and services to the communications, industrial and transport markets. Railway‑approved power conversion products available include AC-DC and DC-DC converters, DC-AC inverters, displays and EMC filters compliant with national and international railway standards EN50121-3-2 and EN50155.

Available in a variety of power levels with a wide range of input and output voltages, they are designed to operate under wide temperature ranges and include self-cooling enclosed cases.

The products have high immunity to electrical, humidity and mechanical stress attributes despite operating under what are often very arduous conditions.
