Consumer and industrial electronics

Electronics have a tremendous impact on our everyday lives. Computers, for example, are on the one hand of utmost importance for industrial applications, data processing and storing and on the other hand for purposes such as entertainment and infotainment at home.

Electronics manufacturers, suppliers and wholesalers are represented around the world, and these electronics companies face today a rapidly changing international market: Progress in high technology, the demand for elaborated, efficient and budget-oriented electronic parts, consumer products and innovations are challenging for an electronics company today. Shorter product innovation cycles, increasing globalisation as well as the demand for a high level of automation and the easy usage of electronics are drivers for the branch.

Consumer electronics, which are manufactured for the everyday use by people, have undergone quite extraordinary development and innovation processes. Especially A/V technology, which stands for audio/video technology, has rapidly changed. Traditional VCR, which is a common abbreviation of videocassette recorder or video recorder, is often replaced by a DVD player or even a personal computer. When it comes to modern telecommunications, the shift is even more obvious: When a couple of years ago cordless telephones, copying and fax machines were central parts of office management or private communication purposes, mobile phones, or cell phones in the US, high-tech scanners and high resolution flat screens are today indispensable for both, business and private usage. Not to mention televisions, lighting systems or digital cameras.

Electronics companies around the world and their electronic components, such as switches, cables and transformers, have to meet the international engineering standards and requirements – no matter if the electronic parts are used for plant engineering, electrical installations or the usage in end consumer products.

When we use electronics today, we simply switch the devices on and off by pressing a button – sometimes not thinking of the know-how and technology that is implemented in the electronics device. The basis for any electronic tool is a so called electronic circuit which interconnects electrical components such as inductors, capacitors, resistors and switches. An electronic circuit diagram, also known as an electronic schematic diagram, represents with symbols in a schematic, clearly arranged way the electrical circuit in the respective device. Any electrical circuit has a power source, which can be a battery or a socket, and forms a closed loop. As symbols in electronic circuits are simplified and internationally standardized, electronic parts such as meters can be easily integrated in an application.
